Warrior Hero Highlight We’re happy to welcome Mr. Jacob Olney to West Point! He teaches Applied Math 7 and Applied Skills, and he thrives on helping students push through challenges and experience that exciting “spark” when they finally understand a concept they’ve been working on.  Jacob was inspired to become a teacher by his dad, who was also an educator. As he grew up, Jacob realized just how much he had in common with him—and decided to follow in his footsteps.  One of his favorite parts of being a Warrior is the camaraderie and support among the staff. That sense of teamwork and unity is what makes WPJH such a special place. Warrior Hero Highlight We’re excited to have back with us Stacey Byington, a vital part of the support team at West Point! She works in the Reset Room, is an Attendance Advocate, and helps students in her role as a TA. Every day, Stacey brings warmth, encouragement, and a deep belief in our students' potential. Though not a traditional classroom teacher, Stacey has always had a passion for working with this generation. She loves their humor, generosity, and the joy of watching them grow and learn. She believes that each day is an opportunity to learn from the students, too. Her favorite part of being a Warrior is the honor of interacting with such noble students every day. And for a fun fact: Stacey is a huge shark fan and dreams of swimming with them one day. She teaches Band and Music Exploration for grades 7–9 and brings passion, energy, and heart to her classroom every day. She loves watching students gain confidence and fall in love with music—just like she did in junior high.  Tana was inspired to become a teacher by her junior high band teacher, Rob Schmidt, who helped her see the magic in music. From that moment in 7th grade, she knew she wanted to teach and inspire students just like he did.  She loves the culture and people at West Point and is proud to be part of a school where everyone feels connected and supported.  And here’s something fun: Tana loves cooking and trying out new recipes! In fact, during college, she seriously considered going to culinary school—but lucky for us, she chose music! Lauren was inspired to teach by her 10th grade English teacher, Miss Van, who made her feel seen and valued. Now, she strives to be that same kind of mentor—encouraging students in their learning and helping them feel important and capable.  Her favorite part of being a Warrior is the school spirit and sense of belonging—she loves how there’s a place for everyone to feel included at WPJH.  Outside of school, Lauren shares her passion for reading with the community through her Little Free Library at home, where neighbors can take and leave books. Warrior Hero Highlight Lori Hayward choir and theater teacher returning for the 2025-26 school year! We’re so lucky to have Mrs. Lori Hayward continuing her amazing work at West Point! She teaches Choir and Theatre, and nothing brings her more joy than seeing the look on a student’s face when they accomplish something they didn’t think was possible.  Lori was inspired to teach by her high school choir teacher, who helped her connect with music on a deep emotional level and made her feel truly believed in. She now brings that same belief and passion to her own students every day.  She loves teaching 12–15-year-olds for their energy, excitement, and willingness to dive into new challenges. Her favorite part of being a Warrior is the incredible school community—wonderful students, supportive parents, and a faculty that feels like family.  And here’s something fun: Lori is originally from Seattle and adores grey skies, rain, and thunderstorms—they remind her of home!

Warrior Hero Highlight Kathy Flint 7-9 PE & Warrior Welness returning for the 2025-26 school year.  We’re thrilled to have Mrs. Kathy Flint continuing her incredible journey with us at West Point! She teaches PE and Warrior Wellness for grades 7–9 and has been a dedicated Warrior since the school opened.  Kathy was inspired to become a teacher by her aunt, who encouraged her to pursue teaching something she was passionate about. Though she was once shy, her love for physical education gave her the confidence to lead and inspire students every day.  Her favorite part of teaching is seeing students improve their health and fitness and grow in confidence. She especially loves working with the amazing students at West Point and being part of a school community she’s helped shape from the very beginning.  And here’s a fun fact: Kathy played softball at BYU and even returned to coach the team after graduating. Her competitive spirit and dedication continue to motivate students both in the gym and in life!

Warrior Hero Highlight Nicole Marchant U.S. History DEEP U.S. History, World Geography, Returning for the 2025-26 school year. We’re so excited to welcome back Mrs. Nicole Marchant to West Point! With 29 years of teaching experience in Davis District, Nichole brings deep knowledge, passion, and connection to her students. This year, she’s teaching regular and DEEP U.S. History and World Geography, and she’s excited to explore the world with her students.  Nichole became a teacher to inspire lifelong learners, just like her own 6th grade teacher, Mrs. Peters, inspired her. She loves making personal connections with students and watching them light up with curiosity as they learn about the world around them.  She’s taught in many schools, but says there’s nothing quite like the feeling of home she gets at WPJH. The students, staff, and faculty make it a truly special place.  And when she’s not in the classroom? Nichole’s probably at a concert! She has a wide-ranging love for live music and has seen Bruno Mars, Foo Fighters, Earth Wind & Fire, U2, Lizzo, and even Hamilton on Broadway.

We’re so proud to have Mrs. Natalie Sills returning to West Point! Warrior Hero Highlight, Kelsey Browning, FACS, Sewing, Fashion Design, and Interior Design, retunring for the 2025-26 school year! We’re excited to welcome back Mrs. Kelsey Browning to West Point! She teaches 7th–9th grade FACS A, Sewing, Fashion, and Interior Design—and brings energy, creativity, and laughter to every class.  Kelsey grew up in a family of educators, including her mom (who teaches at West Point too!), her sister, and her grandpa. Teaching was always in her blood, and she couldn’t imagine doing anything else. She especially loves junior high students for their humor, resilience, and unique personalities—and she laughs every single day at work.  West Point feels like home to Kelsey—literally! She attended West Point as a student and now gets to teach alongside her mom. To her, it’s more than a school—it’s a big family.  And here’s a fun fact: Kelsey did a backflip in her wedding dress—and yes, there's probably video evidence somewhere!

She teaches Special Ed Language Arts and brings heart, energy, and positivity to her classroom every day.  Kristy became a teacher because she was inspired by the amazing educators in her life and wanted a career focused on helping young people succeed. She loves working with kids because they’re resilient, forgiving, and way more fun than adults!  Her favorite part of being a Warrior is cheering on our teams and seeing the whole student body come together in support.  And here’s a fun fact: Kristy has been a Star Wars fan since she was 7—a Jedi at heart in the classroom and beyond!

Warrior Hero Highlight returning for the 2025-25 school year. Katrina Beddes Counselor and Hope squad advisor. We’re so happy to have Ms. Katrina Beddes returning to West Point as part of our Counseling Department & one of our Hope Squad Advisors! With education and counseling in her blood—her mom a teacher and dad a counselor—she was inspired early on to support students on their academic and personal journeys. Katrina loves helping students discover why education matters to them and watching that realization spark real growth and change. She’s passionate about guiding students as they develop motivation, build better habits, and chase their goals. Her favorite part of being a Warrior? The supportive and loving school community that truly feels like family. We’re lucky to have her heart, insight, and dedication on our team!
