Orchestra Performs in Saint George

Music is something that can draw people together and tell stories. This past

weekend our WPJH orchestra had the honor to showcase that and perform at the UMEA

conference in St. George, an event for music teachers across the state. It was a meaningful

opportunity to perform because they auditioned back in May against orchestras from other

junior highs, high schools, and colleges. They showed their dedication, skills, and

storytelling through this great opportunity.

Preparing for the St. George performance required hours of commitment,

teamwork, and practicing from everyone a part of the orchestra. They grew themselves as

musicians and as a group showing off their precision, unity, and love for music. The

experience was something that themselves and others will always remember.

The students apart of the orchestra have grown to love it and wish to share their love

of music with others. Harley, who plays the violin, says about orchestra, “The best thing

about orchestra is seeing how the music brings everyone together. Like seeing so many

people from different backgrounds coming together to listen to some music.” Another

student, Bekah, says this, “Orchestra is amazing. You learn how to play and instrument

while making awesome friends. It’s really fun, especially when traveling. I’ve learned so

much from it.” Orchestra holds a great environment and brings people together. Hope to

see you at their future events!
