At our school our janitor, Ken, has a secret. He loves to do photography! Not many know
about his love or talent for it. He says he doesn’t talk about it because he’s never really had
the chance to, but he does share it with the people from our school and sometimes on his
social media. We did an interview with him and asked him some questions about why he
liked photography, what his favorite photos were, why he chose to be a janitor, and his
overall answers were that he needed insurance and needed family, support, and liked
working with people. But his second option would have been to be a photographer,
because his favorite subjects to photograph were his family and nature. He loves hiking
and being outdoors to see the beautiful views. He even has a tattoo on his arm of one of his
photos! He said he would probably have taken up photography if it met the needs of his
family and offered the same income he makes as a janitor, or higher. Because both jobs
(janitor and photographer) work with people, which was one of his wishes in a job. Another
question we asked was what his favorite photo was, and he described his favorite photo
ever as when he moved into a new house, capturing a beautiful moment. He says it was
just the most beautiful moment. We are so blessed and grateful for our amazing head
janitor, Ken, who has such great photography skills.
